views on religion

A bit self explanatory i would simply like to know your views on religion at its core. what do you believe or how they came to be all the way down to just the history that is what i am curious about.
something else is if the majority here believe in traditional religion or if you made your own. we have our own beliefs but as i said curiosity killed the cat.

In my opinion of course everybody needs an explanation of "The Other Side." Based on basic human psychology everyone wants and explanation of what happens when you die, and that's all religion is. An explanation.

My personal view of religion is inspired by the Perennial School. I see each of the world's great religions as representations of the same set of truths, but through the lens of different cultures. On the surface, it may appear that these religions are contradictory, but I think that's largely because modern practitioners interpret their idols literally, as opposed to symbolically.

I would have to agree with Svalbard. It's the same sort of view I have as well. Each religion believing in the same set of truths but representing and worshiping it differently, with different cultures.

I grew up in a very strict catholic home, although I was a little skeptical with the religious views. But I do believe in God, well at least A God, some God, although I'm still unsure. At some point in my life I thought I was agnostic, I would only believe if I had some proof. But with religion there can't be proof only faith.

I really don't know. It's a topic that makes me uncomfortable and unsure. I definitely believe that there is a higher power that possibly created the universe and everything in it, but I'm just still unsure. But after a while, that's when I came to the same conclusion as Svalbard. Maybe all religions are sharing the same truth but each in a different way.

So if someone would ever ask me am I religious? I would say no, I am not religious, but rather I have a belief.
