From Doctor Faustus, a tragic play written by Christopher Marlowe, in England around 1592 and first published posthumously in 1604. Both born in 1564, Marlowe was a contemporary of William Shakespeare, and the better known for a time during the golden era of Elizabethan playwrights. Ironically, having completed one of the great tragic plays a year earlier, Christopher Marlowe was killed in a tavern brawl on the 1st of June 1593.
