Dear BeN1, and Sidewalk, thank you for reporting this problem.

I have checked the member and associated topic post files and our friend Sidewalk's member and topic records have definitely disappeared, which is very distressing for both you and us.
Can I just ask how Sidewalk is communicating with you on this problem, obviously not by private message as that facility is no longer available without a valid member record? Also while I hate to ask this, are we are absolutely sure Sidewalk hasn't somehow deleted his own member record and associated topic posts, because all post replies from other members are still available?

I have found the new registration as Sidewalk13, but currently have no idea why the confirmation email has not been received at the Gmail address provided during the registration process.

We need to check this out so would appreciate some time to do this please. There is no doubt that it appears that the last attempted software update which we have had to reverse, has created a number of problems, with others potentially yet to be revealed. We are doing our very best to resolve these problems, and will keep you informed as to progress.

Dear BeN1 and Sidewalk, thank you for the additional trace information and I apologise for asking that question Sidewalk, but I can find no trace on the system audit trail of your account being deleted in error so just covering all the bases. Two more questions if you would be so kind.

1) Can you tell me what date you tried to access your account and got the Error 404?

2) Also you don't happen to keep a copy of your previous forum posts on Discord or elsewhere do you?

Re the case of your new member registration problem. Other new member registrations have gone up successfully since Thursday 24th of July, so I think the system appears to think that either Sidewalk still exists or that Gmail address is still in use. So can you try registering SidewalkII with that Gmail address please, to see if you receive a confirmation email.

ANY FURTHER NEWS FOR US FOLLOWING THE INVESTIGATIONS AT YOUR END. I am presently compiling a list of all the known problems that appear to have been potentially caused/created by the aborted update to submit to the support board to try and get some answers, so any helpful information would be appreciated gentlemen. My apologies for the time this is taking but sifting through the evidence is the only way to get a clearer picture.

Thanks for that observation, Yes you are correct that you were always 'the last post' against your own topic and it was one of the problems I logged with software support. I am in fact just testing to see if this problem has now been corrected with this reply post.

I have ALSO found the member account for your friend Sidewalk which appears to still exist, but none of his posts only the replies to his posts from other members. Could you ask him if he can try and log into the forum and put up a post please.

Thanks for that observation, Yes you are correct that you were always 'the last post' against your own topic and it was one of the problems I logged with software support. I am in fact just testing to see if this problem has now been corrected with this reply post. Update today, I've deleted the question mark ? from the topic title BeN1 and it seems to have worked this time, you are no longer the last post at all times, thanks for sticking with this post. However, I think that it's more to do with the fact that Rob has been doing some additional remedial work on the system after redoing the software upgrade yesterday.

Could you ask him if he can try and log into the forum and put up a post please. I have just checked again and this is the new Sidewalk user member record he tried to set up where he did not receive a confirmation email to his Gmail address. Dear BeN1, Thank you for your kind representation on Sidewalk's behalf. The first point to acknowledge is that the problem of non-receipt of activation/confirmation emails to valid email addresses following successful registration is now widespread. I have personally tested this with a new user name registration from one of my email addresses and I too have not received an activation/confirmation email. The same with an admirer of Dave D's artwork, who has tried to join the Oracle Forum, no validation/confirmation email received, so I tried deleting the user member record concerned and then reinstating exactly the same information but with a new password, with exactly the same result. Now all the other bugs have been fixed, we plan to start a technical investigation as to why this keeps happening this coming week.

I will keep you updated as to progress arising from the technical investigation on this thread/topic BeN1 as and when I have some concrete news. Thank Sidewalk for his patience and thank you for persevering on his behalf

Brilliant News BeN1 Rob has found a workaround, I have just managed to validate Sidewalk's account, he should be able to log in now. Kind Regards Redbeck.

Sept 19th

Good evening BeN1, Just a follow on to the above, the Sidewalk account that I have validated is the one linked to the email address g*****ce13@gmail.com, so could he please try logging in and make a post to test that everything is working please.
I noticed that there has also been attempt to register another account in the name of SidewaIk [spelled with an I not an L] linked to a different email address which has a bad reputation for fraud sidewalk@fukaru.com. I need to delete this because I think it’s somebody trying to hijack Sidewalk’s identity, just security checking on his behalf.
