Cleaning up polluted air could make global warning WORSE and cause Earth to become dangerously hot, study warns.

The very contaminants that are helping to fuel "global warming" may also be masking its
effects, research has indicated.

Efforts to remove pollutants from the air could result in an increase in warming, extreme weather and other climate effects, according to the study, which was published in the scientific journal Geophysical Research Letters.

Specifically, removing aerosols, which are human-made pollutants often emitted by industrial activities, could push the earth's temperature to become half a degree to 1.1 degree C warmer.

Recent research has warned against the solar geoengineering methods that inject aerosols into the atmosphere may have on the environment.

The controversial approach, known as stratospheric aerosol injection, is designed to reflect some sunlight before it
reaches Earth's surface.

The process would mimic the natural aftermath of volcanic eruption, when sulphuric acid and other gases are
naturally injected into the atmosphere.

Experts suggest that planes or hot balloons would spray millions of tons of sulphur dioxide a year into the upper
atmosphere at the Equator over the course of decades.

While some scientists claim this could cool down Earth, others suggest it could wreak havoc with our weather
patterns.

It might not seem like much of an increase, but it has the potential to make the earth's temperatures approach dangerous levels.

Experts have said they hope to keep world temperature within 1.5 to 2 degrees Celsius of their pre-industrial levels, Scientific American noted.

The earth may have already warmed by a degree, which means any incremental increases could make a big difference.

Not only would cooling the earth result in warmer weather global temperatures, but it may also enchance the
related effects of global warming.

Chief among those effects are increasingly dangerous weather, such as precipitation and natural disasters.

"We also see that the impact that these aerosols have on tempering Asia really transports northwards to the Arctic
region, Northern Europe, Norway, the northern U.S," said Bjorn Samset, the study's leader, according to Scientific
American.

'The part of the world is also sensitive to the changes in aerosols in Asia.'

The scientists also noted that the negative effects of removing pollutants to be stronger in areas that were more
polluted to begin with.

Once again, good evening and welcome to the Oracle Forum community Infidel, a point well made and in a sense there are implications either way but they all amount to death by climate change. Pollution shortens the life span of those with degenerative respiratory disease such as COPD, as much as could removing the aerosol pollution mask. In other words, damned if you do, damned if you don't.

In support of this conclusion, are studies that have investigated the cooling 'mask; of aerosols. A 2016 paper published in Nature Geoscience found that up to half a degree Celsius of the warming that has been observed in the Arcti [the most rapidly warming region on the planet] since 1980 was caused by pollution reductions in Europe. Those findings point to both the considerable cooling effect aerosols have had on the Earth's climate and to the atmospheric linkages between different regions of the Northern Hemisphere.

Another 2016 paper, also published in Nature Geoscience, suggested that about a third of all the warming that occurred over land areas over the past 50 years was masked [temporarily covered up] by aerosol pollution.

Scientists are now saying that the new research underpins the idea that current global goals, particularly the 1.5-degree target are now almost certain to be overshot, even if the timing remains uncertain. Some are even suggesting that in order to meet the 1.5-degree target will be only possible with the help of geoengineering, i.e. using technology to bring the global temperature back down below a specific threshold.

In fact, one major form of geoengineering proposed involves the use of aerosols to cool the climate, although ideally in a form that's not hazardous to the health of humankind. Yet other techniques involve drawing carbon dioxide back out of the atmosphere, and the best way to do that is plant millions of trees, which when I last checked were not health hazards, and also help trigger increased rainfall, enrich the soil with their debris and suck up vast quantities of CO2. But it takes time unless you are and empress or foxglove tree (Paulownia tomentosa), named after its purple foxglove-like flowers which can grow 6 metres [19.7 feet] in its first year, and as much as 30 centimetres or a foot in three weeks.

What if Cape Town runs out of water?

For those of us humankind lucky enough to have a household tap, faucet, spigot, hydrant, stopcock, bib or bibcock to turn on - whatever you care to call it – English can be a luxurious language, can you imagine turning the device to the on position and seeing nothing coming out.

Now having been through this scenario but once in generally endlessly rained on Britain during the drought summer of 1976 which saw people queuing at communal standpipes in the street as water was rationed. It is a major shock to the system, I had returned for two weeks from equally baking Belgium, where I was living at the time, which given a population of 10 million as opposed to 56 million enjoyed a seemingly a plentiful supply of water.

The latest prediction is that the South African city could reach ‘Day Zero’ – the day the city’s taps will run dry on July 7th 2018, a forecast pushed back from the end of April by rationing.

Cape Town has slashed its water consumption to 523 million litres (around 139 million gallons) a day, less than half of what it was four years ago, before the drought began. Farmers in Western Cape Province have also diverted enough water to supply the city, South Africa’s second largest, for a further 19 days at the current rate. Yes only NINETEEN days.

It would be the world’s first major city to run out of water, and could plunge residents, surrounding farmers and animals into total crisis as crops fail and livestock die off. That is happening this year!

Government officials and human relief agencies are already helping the people, but it could take at least half a year before the taps are turned on again after ‘Day Zero.’

Conserving and sharing global water resources is essential and the way of true sprituality for you can build your own code, water is the greatest symbolic of them all, the symbol of life. Without that the rest is history.

Lake Chad, a crucial source of water for millions of people in West Africa, has shrunk by nine-tenths due to climate change, population growth and irrigation.

Time is running out as the desert encroaches still further every year, making it increasingly difficult for families to make a living through agriculture, fishing and livestock farming. The UN estimates that 10.7 million people in the Lake Chad basin need humanitarian relief to survive.

Observers who grew up beside the lake in the 1970s, say they used to make their way to the waterside through rolling fields of maize, arriving at the lake was alive with vast numbers of bobbing, and huge fish markets sprawled across the shore. These days there are far fewer farmers able to earn a living on the mineral-rich but parched lake-shore soil.

The situation has become so desperate that a decision has been taken to blow the cobwebs off a scheme first proposed way back in 1982 by Italian engineering company Bonifica Spa.

Originally known as Transaqua it involved a plan to construct a 2,400 kilometres (1,500 mile) canal to transfer up to 100 billion cubic metres (3.5 trillion cubic feet) of water a year from the upstream tributaries of the mighty Congo River all the way to the Chari River basin, which feeds Lake Chad. The project would also feature a series of dams en route to generate electricity.

Bonifica maintains its plan will use less than 8 percent of the water the Congo River discharges into the Atlantic and would not be a threat to the Democratic Republic of Congo's ongoing Grand Inga Dam project, which would create the world's largest hydropower generator if it is completed.

Ironically government ministers and engineers recently sat consuming expensive mineral water at the International Conference on Lake Chad in the capital, Abuja. At that meeting, it was agreed that Bonifica and PowerChina, the company that helped build the Three Gorges dam spanning the Yangtze River, would embark on a feasibility study. However, in the true spirit of capitalism they announced that the effort to raise $50 billion (£35 billion) for the Lake Chad Fund should begin immediately.

Yet in practice there still remain a number of obstacles that may thwart a successful conclusion:
Substantial further engineering work would be needed to enable the Chari River to handle the increased flow of water. Although that said the project could be staggered, based on the concept that each completed stage would immediately augment the flow of water into the Lake Chad basin.

Valuable time has been lost as other more difficult options have been considered such as pumping the water uphill from Palambo, in the Central African Republic.

In addition, the challenge of raising the required $50bn (£35 billion) funding associated with Transaqua should not be underestimated.

There will almost certainly be resistance from environmental campaigners to overcome.

Above all to even carry out the feasibility study requires the areas involved to be at guaranteed peace, which is not currently the case with Boko Haram jihadists highly active.

Yet if this project fails to get off the ground, without water another part of Africa dies to become a ghost land and human kind’s future looks ever more desolate.

A well known bottled water company, headquartered in Switzerland no less, draws 4.7 million litres of water from the Canadian province of Ontario every single day, and is looking to take more. The firm’s permits have expired, in some instances years ago, yet the provincial government is still refusing to make a decision to reject the new applications outright or prevent the company from continuing to take water.

A new poll of Ontario residents, taken right across political party lines, shows that Ontarians want the company in question, first letter N, and the bottled water industry, ousted from Ontario for good. Over 50 percent of Ontarians want bottled water permits phased out in the next two years, while 64 percent of them are convinced that corporations should have no control whatsoever over their groundwater.

Premier Wynne is steaming straight ahead into an election hoping that these voracious water grabs by large commercial entities won’t become an issue until after the votes have been cast. A huge outcry from citizens of planet Earth can hopefully propel this issue into the political limelight and pressure Wynne into phasing the bottled water industry out of Ontario protecting its water in perpetuity for indigenous humankind not big business.

Everyday in Ontario 7.6 million litres (1.67 million imperial gallons) of water is pumped out by bottled water companies against expired permits, over two thirds of that is taken by the one entity. Staggeringly, that same firm wants to take an additional 1.6 million litres (351,951 imperial gallons) per day from a new well.

Local residents and advocates have been fighting the Swiss firm’s profiteering for many years. Nevertheless, Premier Wynne has bowed to public pressure before. In 2016, she changed the regulations around water-taking permits to include a two-year moratorium on new permits, as well as increasing the cost to draw water from Ontario’s precious aquifers.

Just remember the world’s resources such as water should be shared across humankind and all kindred creatures of earth, air and water not to mention the dwindling plant life that sustains us all in one way or another. But not my brothers and sisters for capitalistic profit, that is simply wrong. Canada is the 5th largest agricultural exporter in the world, an industry for which water is a essential ingredient. Flaxseed, canola, pulses, oats and durum wheat are key commodities for humankind, thus clean air, soil and water must be everyone's priority.

Water is the world’s most precious resource, despite living on a blue planet, we now find that estimates of freshwater on earth readily available for consumption of humankind has dwindled to only 1%.

Soaring demand and the impact of climate change will likely create a scenario where billions of people could be facing water shortages, only highlighting the urgent need for businesses, communities and individuals to embark on a monumental conservation programme.

Let’s face it, we depend on nature for everything, every staff of life we’ve ever understood from the cradle so protecting it is paramount and transcends the aspirations of all causes, because this is survival of human kind not some high flown mathematical Gordian knot to unravel, cunning political conspiracy to decipher or incantation of magick to translate, for old Kit Marlowe had it right, ‘O, I'll leap up to my God! Who pulls me down? See, see where Christ's blood streams in the firmament!’
And so talking of blood Christopher lad, despite being long dead you still cast a blessed cloak of words across this spinning orb, it is rivers that are the lifeblood of our societies and economies, is it not so Kit?

Tragically, they are often seen as simply sources of water and worse still power, but healthy rivers benefit humanity in a myriad of other ways. For example, the sediment that turns rolling rivers muddy brown is critical to ensuring that deltas remain above sea level, the latter has become a frighteningly mobile statistic as a result of climate change. Think hard upon this, these deltas are home to hundreds of millions of people and some of the world's richest agricultural land.

In addition, rivers support freshwater fisheries that feed tens of millions, help defend cities from floods, fertilise floodplains, and significantly much more. Yet when capitalistic fools over endowed with power, which must be wrested from them and administered collectively among the truly righteous in this world, dam and drain rivers, and pave over wetlands, a multitude of these hidden benefits are irrevocably lost.

As we stand, many of us shakily perhaps our last stand, on this our planet; nearly two-thirds of the world's population already face water shortages for at least one month each year.

Growing populations, soaring demand and accelerated climate change will only increase the pressure on the world's freshwater resources, underscoring the critical need to protect and restore ailing rivers and wetlands.

If we all work together, the glimmer of good news is there is still might be enough water for everyone. What will life be like after we've solved "climate change"? Better than today or worse. Mud huts and gruel, or
flying cars and the abet sons?

Comfy homes, good food, whip-smart appliances and robots hopping around on farms all seem pretty likely,
experts queried by USA TODAY said. All in all, our living standards will be the same, only a lot greener and more
efficent.

That view is in stark contrast to a common complaint by critics who object to making global warming-based
changes to economy, suggesting such changes would destroy America's standard of living and force everyone to
"live in yurts and eat tofu," as one commentator put it.
