‘616, not 666 is the real Number of the Beast,’ I’d heard that and not only that it was reported under the influence of another 6 in the year 2006. The year when a newly discovered fragment of the oldest surviving copy of the New Testament, indicated that as far as the Antichrist goes, the defining number is not 666 but actually the far less ominous 616.

The new fragment from the Book of Revelation, written in ancient Greek and dating from the late third century, emerged a hoard of previously unintelligible manuscripts discovered in historic dumps outside Oxyrhynchus in Egypt. A team of expert classicists, using new photographic techniques, finally began to make progress in deciphering the original writing.

Professor David Parker, Professor of New Testament Textual Criticism and Paleography at the University of Birmingham, now firmly believes that 616, although less memorable than 666, is the real original. In his words, ‘This is an example of gematria, where numbers are based on the numerical values of letters in people's names. Early Christians would use numbers to hide the identity of people who they were attacking for despicable conduct: for example 616 refers to the Emperor Caligula.’

The traditional theory is that the Book of Revelation was written by John, a disciple of Jesus; wherein it identifies 666 as the mark of the Antichrist. Right leaning fundamentalist Christians often use the number in sermons about the impending Apocalypse. The Church of Satan is equally loath to change.

In truth it’s generally acknowledged that you need to use the rest of the Bible to decipher much of Revelation. Therefore it is worthy of note to point out that 616 appears nowhere else in the Bible, while 666 appears in four instances. That could lead us to the conclusion of course that the whole work is littered with mistranslations and therefore fundamentally flawed, which is not beyond the bounds of reason. However we have yet to witness a paradigm shift in Christian opinion.

Irenaeus a Greek cleric noted for his role in guiding and expanding Christian communities in what is now the south of France in the second century, was already aware, a hundred years earlier than the manuscript Parker is using, of the 616 variation. He dismissed it as a copyist’s error through which the Greek letter xi with a gematraic value of 60 was wrongly copied into the Greek letter iota with number value of 10.

As is probably evident with my other couple of posts, i examine 'time' quite a bit and ive done much work with these numbers.

Something interesting shows up with both numbers.

616th minute of the day is 10:16 am
666th minute of the day is 11:06 am.

Both are a reversed / mirrored 911.

Here is the tiebreaker imo though.

66.6 hours is equal to 3996 minutes.

Organized , this is :

2 full days & 1116 minutes. - OR- 2.775 days

2 1116 mirrors ( minus the placeholder zero )
911 2__1 perfectly.

In addition, 2.775 points right to the london bombings as well.

Well thank you ZenOfMakaveli, I unearthed an interesting view of the psychology of time the other day that I thought I might trot into the daylight, a tad off the mark as it's close to getting dark, but be that as it may...

'Time is related to the velocity of objects, and depends on movement in space, such as the time taken for planet Earth to rotate once on its axis (a single day) or make a single orbit of the sun (a year). This is measureable linear time, clock time. We can call it Chronos, after one of the ancient Greek gods of time.

But we should note that there was another time god, called Kairos. To speak of clock time ‘before’ the Big Bang is meaningless, but we can imagine a kind of timeless void in which the conditions for the Big Bang came into being.

For the Greeks, Kairos symbolised chance, fortune and every example of meaningful coincidence. The word we use for that is ‘synchronicity’. When Kairos visited, you had to be prepared to go with the opportunities he offered. He always knocked and came calling at the right time, the perfect moment when all was ripe and ready. Kairos can therefore be thought of as spiritual time, eternity… ‘God’s time’.

Kairos has a different quality altogether from chronos, being more rhythmical, circular and seasonal than linear in nature. It often feels as if clock time has frozen, slowed right down or stopped completely. Paradoxically, it sometimes also feels as if time has speeded up, so that minutes, hours, days, even weeks and months can go by as if in a flash. Some athlete’s experience it, for example, when they get ‘in the zone’ during a burst of peak performance.

Kairos is in play when things happen unpredictably, but at just the right moment. Time and timelessness seem to intersect for human benefit and instruction. Such epiphany experiences occur when something eternal appears to break through into everyday life. Heaven and earth seem both briefly and enduringly to coincide. With this, ‘Something happens!’ Something new and profound, something inspiring and potentially life-changing, is revealed in an instant.'

I certainly wished I had written this, but I didn't. Yet I have have skipped three paragraphs, too impatiennt to get to a incisive close....

I know/knew of Chronos, but Kairos is another aspect i hadn't previously heard of. I am going to give myself a crash course now that you've bought it to my attention. I cant help but think it applies to a lot of the study i do. Thank you very much.
