For many, he is the Van Gogh of music, now regarded as a musical mystic, who wove his unique observations of nature and the world about him into his songs. Drake only gained public acclaim beyond the musical community that surrounded him following his death at 27 in 1974. He suffered increasingly severe depression although his lyrics remained pure poetry filled with emotions much like Van Gogh's paintings.
