with the time we have, how do you recommend best spending it to develop ourselves?

Is time a currency with which you may spend?

Instead of looking at your experience with time as a transaction, I prefer to feel it like a flow. A tide going in one direction. You can fight that tide with all your might (like the Reactionaries do) and end up no closer to where you once were, only now worn and tired, or you can allow yourself to float with current, free and easy.

Just go with the flow, man, you know?
