Chimps and religion?

Jane Goodall discovered that chimpanzees
we're capable of making tools.
Now scientists think that they have found
somethings even more unexpected....
that chimps engage in a ritual.
Researchers studying the creatures in the
forests of the Republic of Guinea noticed
odd marks on the base of a tree, they set
up an unmanned camera, resulting
footage showed a male chimp picking up
stones & hurling them at the tree's base
and less frequently,placing them in between
large roots, creating what resembled a
cairn.
It was this second aspect is that intrigued them
the researchers,the rock flinging could be a
way for chimps to assert their dominance
but the cairn building served no obvious
practical use.
Marking pathways and territories with signpost
such as piles of Rockies an important step in human history.
Maybe we had found the first evidence of
Chimpanzees creating a kind of a shrine.
The team said they had recorded similar
behavior in chimps in other parts of West
Africa but not elsewhere on the continent.
