Interstingly enough given the prime importance of nines to this site, the code above was developed by Emily Read in conjunction with charitable magazine The Pavement in 2007 (resolving down to a power for good 9 if ever there was!) The code provides a means for homeless people to get an instant view of available amenities in specific locations and share their more pioneering experiences in search of decent bedding down options across the UK capital London with other rough sleepers.

The code is printed inside each issue of The Pavement, which is circulated extensively widely among the homeless community. Editor Richard Burdett believes that,'The guide fits in well with what The Pavement was founded for; allowing homeless people to make informed choices about their lives and what they do day-to-day'.
