Marking the 9th of December - Christmastide

Good evening, as I am heading for Finland to see my son, daughter-in-law and two grandsons over most of December and the first half of January, I thought it a good opportunity, in conjunction with a seasonally relevant poem, to wish all our friends and supporters in the Oracle forum community a very Merry Christmas well in advance.
Hopefully, I'll be back online soon enough once I have settled into the minus temperatures and serious snowfall.

Christmastide
Tramping home over drifting snows
It’s coming up Christmastide.
Robins hopping through hedgerows
Long white stretches across the lane,
or where the lane once was, in warmer days
Kick the step, shrug off snowy boots
It’s coming up Christmastide.
And yet the occasional owl still hoots
thick-socked feet pad softly in the hall,
in search of a glowing hearth on winter days.
Baubled fir trees, mistletoe and holly
it’s coming up Christmastide.
Mulled wine makes this season jolly
Blazing logs paint pictures on the wall,
toasted toes and crumpets lift frosty days.
Carolers sing, Salvation army brass bands
It’s coming up Christmastide.
Church bells joyful in deft ringers’ hands
Pealing out from stone clad soaring towers,
behind rime cloaked yew trees on frozen days.
Yet now’s a time to fill the world with love
as it’s coming up Christmastide.
Succour the needy so they may rise above
Spread the spirit of goodwill to all humankind,
try to save the children who won’t see warmer days.
