Iceberg Slumber
There was a thick, condensed soup of chill fog swamping the Swalbard archipelago that day.
An iceberg floated out of the gloom unbeknown to the boat in search of the great white bears.
Far into the Arctic Ocean midway between the North Pole and that northern coast of Norway.
Sparsely populated Spitsbergen, old Arctic whaling station and polar expeditions base, not far away, where the constantly watchful Great Skua stares, ever seeking a fine filling cod fish-breakfast.
Three long days of blind man’s bluff, the thick fogs lift, the photographs of a lifetime emerge.
