The Quest Of King Meshre - II - Tale of A Denizon - I

So was it, that at the same time as Meshre lived a denizen of the island-land dwelt poor and lowly amongst the tall people; his name, David.

And David was like a magician, but yet yet and without many powers.

David sat upon the table in the was yet to become a so-called "church" and read of the All that is Zed.

Zed--so spoken by the men of magic, was with the All and was the All. For which reason, He is the All of Zed, the Zed-All-Iz-Zed.

The Zed lived upon High: far higher than Meshre had ever known.

At this time, was David a mere boy, without magical powers, without influence.

And David, a denizen amongst lowly half-gods, knew of Meshre and his Divine knowledge; such knowledge known, was that of language.

Far and far away, in a land in a different time, lived there a peculiar person, whom David should come to meet in his later young years.

Now, the young man had little and a meager, humble life, yet, prayed he unto the Zed and, Zed unto he descended.

Was it then that Zed asked for a wish. David was enchanted: blessed with the divine spark of grace and understanding.

Asked he, like his fellow Meshre, to know the secrets and hidden things of language.

Asked he of this, and Zed obliged.

So it was, that David grew and grew--humble, and always joyous with the love of his fellows and wisdom. Then met he, one night, a mysterious person.

The person knew of old David and of that arose a friendship. The mysterious person wanted not to be know; in which way, ego was dead, a head small.

For many years didst David and the person speak in silence. Many heard of David, but none knew him. Oh, many things believed they falsely.

And this person, though not showing itself, always watched and gazed upon the beautiful works of David's friends, always keeping in mind the giant man named Meshre far and away.

The person loved and loved alone; hate for none, generosity for all; so it wast, David and it: friends amidst friends.
