Good morning and welcome to the Oracle Forum LeviathOfNoesia, or perhaps, it’s almost time for a night cap in your neck of the world? In which case, allow me to offer you something embroidered and woolly for the retiring head or on the other hand perhaps a splash of something a little spiritually stronger to put fire in the gullet, either way your secret is safe with me!

Anyway, thank you for your post you have my curiosity piqued as to the meaning of ‘Emmelphantsdur’? It reminds me of something I read or heard long, long ago, maybe it was uttered by that Godfather character of deepest Goth literature Professor Abraham ‘The Vampire Hunter’ Von Helsing, or indeed it has a Franz Kafkaesque ring to hit perhaps buried deep in the pages of ‘Das Schloss’. Either way both parties were involved with dark castles…. holding sinister secrets, at one time or another.

For the record I have translated your text line for all comers.

=-=-={……}+ Back of sort some need 9 and siren A is site this [NO ? so this is not a question?]

9 is the pivotal power number behind the site, it can represent the either anthracite black dark side or the blinding magnesium light of goodness, we look for corresponding numeric patterns in alphanumeric translation using the Latin Alphabet where A = 1 and Z = 26. Should a letter have a double digit value then these are added together to reduce to single digit values i.e. Z = 8. Exactly the same process is adopted for words transposed into number, which are subsequently resolved down into their lowest numeric value i.e. WORD 23-15-18-4 = 5+6+9+4 = 24 = 2+4 = 6. Returning to 9s we find they occur in this sense where strong energies are at work for good or evil.

The site is also a knowledge and learning farm and open storage labyrinth, on the basis that we believe that when a person is learning and acquiring knowledge they are more likely to go out and do good things as opposed to bad. Thus our brains are hardwired for tangential thoughts, as in when a 'LeviathOfNoesia' writes to us, we immediately strike our brows flat-handed and shout, ‘Why didn’t we think about that?’, continuing to follow the first signs of madness and talk to ourselves, then the mood swing oozing self confidence, ‘Well then perchance we did, plenty sure fire hotrod brain matter round here haw-haw! Nobody shot in the head? Well intellect intact!

Eccentr-insanity purely for illustration purposes you understand. It was the word siren, which seemed mildly out of context in my original translation WAY UP ABOVE that launched the good ship tangent.

In Greek Mythology, the Sirens were stunningly beautiful but highly dangerous creatures, who lured sailors on passing ships with their enchanting music and singing voices to shipwreck on the rocky coast of the island on which they lived. Roman poets have them located on some small islands called Sirenum scopuli In alternative writings on the phenomenon, the literal geography of the ‘flowery’ island of Anthemoessa or Anthemusa, is employed occasionally fixed on Cape Pelorum but also other ports of call in the island group known as the Sirenuse, for example locations with high cliffs and surrounded by treacherous rocks near Paestum or in Capreae (Capri)

Insincere apologies my dear saintly Archbishop of Translybury. I adore your thought of Emelphantsdur being something other than cryptic neologism. Though you have answered my initial question, i must ask something of a glass art.

Well, well LeviathOfNoesia, thank you for your reply, you are a deepsea giant of language it would seem. My first thought was that Emelphantsdur was either a patchwork fabric elephant on a stiff backboard or a plain hardboiled elephant (it's the dur at the end you see). I say this because a smidgeon of memory has been stirred, I am now sure that I heard the expression Emelphant as a child, indeed that is maybe the way in which I used to enunciate Elephant when I was small. My grandfather (on my mother's side) lived in a quite disturbing dwelling, in that it was a cluttered asylum of numerous trophy's of the British Empire which also encompassed the taxidermist's art, including a hard boiled hollowed out elephants foot as an umbrella/walking stick stand in the entrance hall. The item was hideously lifelike and frequently gave me nightmares, because I always tried to imagine what it was like to have one's foot sawn off and hollowed out. Added to which, when we visited my grandfather, who lived 240 miles (386 kms) away, I was always consigned to sleep on cushions on the lounge floor with the sinister elephant's foot standing permanent guard immediately outside the door, thus maintaining it as a constant presence in my already vivid imagination and too young to drink to forget.

My grandfather was born around 1877 and I assume that he'd been out in British East Africa probably with the army, he was certainly not an aristocrat residing in the Happy Valley of the type described in Baroness Karen von Blixen-Fineckebut's book Out of Africa, but that said he did live in a substantial detached house in a leafy suburb of Croydon and had a Belgian housekeeper called Colette. I am not convinced that he was one off those appallingly brutal big Victorian big game hunters at the turn of the nineteenth century featured in Von Blixen's book, she was married to at least one big game hunter and was the well publicised lover of another. However, neither could I be sure that he'd not been an avid slaughtere of the Big Five in the company of aristocrats, he was supposedly a top marksman with a rifle, he was taken ill shortly thereafter and ended his days in a nursing home in Coombe Hill and so I never got to quiz him as an interested a teenager before he died. Although, I was always suspicious based on the snippets gleaned from my mother, and hunters were responsible for wiping out elephants in much of East Africa by the 1930s, I suppose I was a born again animal conservationist even at 5 years old! At least I'd like to believe that he bought the bloody thing from a local market as a ready made example of indigenous arts & crafts in blissful souvenir ignorance, rather than visualise him as some Dirty Harry Callahan blasting his way indiscriminately through herds of these maginficient creatures now in such short supply.

Anyway enough of that, Neologism is of course a definitive four-way street and given the prefix of cryptic forms an ever closing association with crosswords at least in my mind! But I've loved the word for many a moon. Totally originated in France 1790-1800; French neologisme and thus it wormed its way into the English language following in the foosteps of a plethora of predecessors.

1. A new word, meaning, usage, or phrase.
2. The introduction or use of new words or new senses of existing words.
3. A new doctrine, especially a new interpretation of sacred writings.
4. Employed in Psychiatry, then it is a new word, often consisting of a combination of other words, that is understood only by the speaker: occurring most often in the speech of schizophrenics.

In answer to what I think is your question LeviathOfNoesia my old sprudel, the history of art as it unfolds behind the glass certainly grounds us for the future, works of art are life milestones of the greatest kind, that is if art fully depicts the terrible mistakes we made as a humans or do I mean that we made in the race to become humans and we deign to take note?

‘Oblique-ah! I have it,’ Redbeck chortled waking from his dream state with a joyous start, ‘Look at that, another three silver fish plop effortlessly into the Emelphantsdur ideas net ……’ A fanfare of trumpets emanates from stage left in our unfolding Wakespearian comedy, an amiable thespian of ample waistline and jovial demeanour strolls preoccupied across the boards.

‘M’ rudelephants,’ he mutters,’ I wonder who trained these brash creatures? I should have them write to my friend with the Chihuahuas, that they may learn to swim together and trade insults!
Pink elephant Rab C NESBITT.JPG
‘M’ rud elephants,’ the jovial character repeats, ‘Add but a narrow breath and we have a gigantic mammal, dun dusty grey no longer but coloured red of skin or much like a made-up actor stained with reddish hue, perhaps a jaunty Marigold behind the redness of each flopping ear.’
Pink elephant Rab 2 C NESBITT.JPG
‘Elephants murd’ our thespian continues with a decidedly indecorous smile, ‘Thus the giants of the African forest bearing Carthaginian general Hannibal across the Alps stamp thunderously to dispatch steaming piles of murd down onto the armies of Tiberius Sempronius and Publius Cornelius Scipio that gather in defence of Rome.’

'AND SO OUR PLAY ELEPHANTASMAGORIA UNFOLDS.......'
