Most people don't associate extreme intelligence with animals, but that's a misconception, while
they are not able to match the computational and meta cognitive power of the human brain
there are certain things some animals specialise in for which their minds are uniquely adapted.
In some ways you could say that they are smarter, or more functional, than even humans at
performing these tasks.
Here are the most intelligent animals in the planet.
SQUIDS
Squids are said to be among the brainiest invertebrates in the world, their brain structure is
different from other invertebrates in the ocean, as they share complex features similar to the
human brain, like human beings, squids can be very curious about their environment.
They have the ability to learn new skills and develop the capacity to use tools that can either
help them repress their boredom and protect them from harm.
SPIDERS
Spiders are among the smallest creatures to possess a proportionately high level of intelligence,
especially the White-Mustached Portia spiders, these spiders dwell African, Asian and Australian
forests and have demonstrated special learning skills.
The Portia spiders often hunt in ways that seem intelligent and can improvise by trial and error
against unfamiliar prey, they are capable of trying out a behaviour to obtain feedback regarding
success or failure, and they can plan ahead, make detours to find the best attack angle and some
times the planned route leads to "abseiling" down a silk thread and biting the prey from behind,
or forming a lasso to catch the prey.
BABOONS
In Egyptian mythology, "Babi" was the deification of the "hamadryas" baboon and therefore a
sacred animal. It was known as the attendant of "Thoth", so is also called the "sacred baboon".
Baboons are old world monkeys who have cognitive abilities very similar to orangutans and chimpanzees, in terms of the way they behave, we see how these creatures resemble people,
unlike other animals, studies show that at some level baboons know how to identify stress and
cope with it. They create extremely complex social systems and can think critically when
confronted with difficult situation.

Scientists once thought of told use as a defining feature of humans, but research is showing adept tool users on land, air and sea in the animal kingdom.
CHIMPANZEE's are humanity's closest living realatives and apparently learned how to make and use tools long ago without human help, with stone hammers found at a chimp settlement in the Ivory Coast, dating back 4,300 years.
They are capable of making spears to hunt other primates for meat, and are known to have developed specialised tool kits for foraging army ants.
CROWS have exceptional bird brains, proving adept at crafting twigs, leaves and even their own feathers into tools.
Researchers have discovered that crows might learn to drop stones in pitchers to raise the height of water inside, just like in Aesop's fable, as the water rises in the pitcher a worm floats to the top in reach for the crow.
THE BALD EAGLE
The Bald eagle is the national bird and symbol of United States of America, they are the only birds found in all fifty states and are also known as the American Eagles, fishing Eagles, Washington Eagles and white-headed eagle, the name 'Bald' comes from piebald, spotty or patchy.
Bald eagles are one of the few birds that mate more life, living like a married couple, the female lays approximately two eggs every year, it is only when one of the Eagles dies that the other will look for another mate.
ORANGUTANS in the wild have developed and passed along a way to make improvised whistles from bundles of leaves, which they use to ward off predators.
A Bornean orangutan was photographed using leaves stripped from a twig to alter the frequency
of its kiss squeak call, which it makes when it feels threatened.
ELEPHANTS are among the "most intelligent animals" in the world, with brains larger than those of any land animal.
Anecdotes suggest they can intentionally drop logs or rocks on electric fences to short them out and plug up water holes with balls of chewed bark to keep other animals from drinking them away.
Asian elephants are known to systematically modify branches to swat away flies, breaking them down to an ideal length for attacking the insects.
GORILLAS aren't just extraordinarily strong-roughly 10 times stronger than a full grown-grown man, but they possess brains as well. Wild gorillas are known to use branches as walking sticks to test water depth and trunks from the shrubs as makeshift bridges to cross deep patches of swamp.
While other apes mostly use tools to help get at food, gorillas apparently use them to help deal with their surroundings in other ways.
when being observed a female gorilla crossed a pool by using a detached stick to test the depth of the water and using it also as a walking stick.
RODENTS can be taught how to use tools. Degus-small rodents closely related to Guinea pigs and chinchillas -can be taught how to use rakes to obtain food.
The degu is placed on one side of a see through, plastic fence and sunflower seeds are placed on the other side, When provided with a small rake, which they use to pull the seeds out through the fence so that it can eat them.
DOLPHINS are extraordinary intelligent animals who also display culture, something which was long believed to be unique to human beings, although recognised in various species.
Dolphins have been observed teaching young how to use tools, they cover their snouts with soonges to protect them while foraging.
Dolphins have several highly developed forms of communication , they have a "signature whistle" which allows other individuals to recognise them.
Dolphins are "altruistic" animals, they are known to stay and help injured individuals, even helping them to surface to breath. Their compassion also extends across the species barrier, they are many accounts of dolphins helping human beings and even whales.

Scientists have long thought that algae had a symbiotic relationship with salamander larvae, giving them only the resources it's didn't need , research in recent years has proven the salamanders have algae ,all up, in their very cells. aside from being very, very gross, this trait helps them put a new, very literal meaning behind green energy.
If humans are one day able to adapt this amazing trait as our own, we could bolster the world's food supply by becoming slime-hybrids!
ATLANTIC WOLFfISH
At first glance, it looks like wolffish got beaten with the short end of the evolution stick. These terrifying yet inexplicably stupid-looking fish inhabit the deep sea, and like most deep sea creatures they have cleared massive biological hurdles in order to survive where they do.
They thrive in a area where it's too cold for most things to exist, the wolffish have to make their own 'antifreeze' literally , this same antifreeze protein can be found increasing the freezing tolerance of crops, improving farm fish life in cold climates, lengthening the shelf life of frozen foods, enchanting preservation of tissues for transplant in medicine, and even improving the texture of low-fat ice cream.
TRIPOD FISH
The tripod fish's fin rays have evolved into long, bony protrusions that it uses like a biological BarcaLounger .
The tripod fish's whole strategy for survival is to sit on the ocean floor, using its hind fin-legs to angle its body so that it faces against the current, this way it can simply open its mouth to eat small shrimp, and crustaceans that the current sweeps by, and it doesn't even have to move.
The deep ocean is a terrifying and unforgiving place, if you're going to survive down there, you need at least one amazing trait to trip up the animal reaper when it comes swimming for you.
Most creatures evolve to be faster, camouflage themselves better, or simply scare, the tripod fish, on the other hand evolved nature's version of a disability scooter.
JAPANESE PUFFER FISH
When an underwater photographer off the coast of Japan found these almost 6 foot wide intricate structures drawn on the ocean floor,me had no idea what made them, these "underwater crop circles" excited all who saw them.
A television crew observed the tiny Japanese puffer fish painstaking carving the design all day and night using just one fin, the more elaborate he "crop circle" the most likely a male was to find a mate, the intricate carved walls do serve other functions, the underwater crop circles act as a buffer for the ocean currents, which allow the puffer fish eggs and young to stay in one place.
THE SCALY-FOOT GASTROPOD
There exists a species of hydrothermal vent snail that "can incorporate metal" from deep sea vents into its own flesh, the snails foot(the big pad of flesh it moves around on) is covered with iron-mineral scales that it culls from sulphides, and it's shell comes complete with an outer layer of greigite.
Scientists have observed deep sea crabs attempting to break these snails between their claws unsuccessfully, though the crabs get through on occasion, for the most part the scaly-foot gastropod just slides around, covered in the maritime equivalent of the Iron Man suit, laughing at natures ineffective attempted murders.
The mollusk' sir on plating is so tough that the US army is even taking from its unique she'll makeup to design better armour for solders, experiments at MIT's Institute for Soldier Nanotechnologies have shown that the scaly-foot gastropod's organic middle layer absorbs mechanical pressure(from things such as squeezing) while dissipating heat; the outer, metallic layer is extremely hard to pierce; and the innermost layer is -well snail.

Dung beetles play key roles in improving soils and controlling pests.
Reasons for its recent decline in some beetle species include comic into contact with 'anthelmintics' a type of drug given to livestock to control intestinal worms that prevent the farm animals from thriving.
As well as their importance to agriculture, the beetles and their grubs are food for the wild birds and mammals.
RAILROAD WORM
In the darkness of its hideaway beneath logs and rocks, or under the ground, the railroad worm
usually goes unnoticed. It's dull brown colour helps keep it safely hidden from its enemies.
But at nighttime, when the railroad worm is active,it is a worm of a different colour, it crawls
out of its hideaway under cover of darkness to hunt for food, measuring only about 2 and 1/2
inches long when full grown,the female railroad worm appears to be easy prey.
But creation has given her an effective defence mechanism against would be attackers.
If she feels threatened, she suddenly turns on her warning lights,maher head glows a fiery red,
and her body gives off a greenish-yellow light,this amazing display of lights warns an attacker
to "get back", and usually the startled predator quickly retreats.
The railroad worm also turns on her lights when attacking other creatures and when mating.
The lights are a product of a chemical reaction inside the body of the worm, amazing, however,
this little creature is able to turn its lights on and off and at will, the railroad worm can turn
all its lights out at once, or a few at a time.
The railroad worm really isn't a worm,it is larva of the Phrixothrix beetle.
It's name, which means "with bristling hairs" refers to the tiny hairs covering its body.
The railroad worm got its name because of the way it looks when it is glowing, it's body light
looks like the windows of a train at night, and the red head resembles a bright red headlight.
The railroad worm has eleven spots on each side of its body that shine a pale greenish-yellow.
