The rose and dagger tattoo can symbolise the duality of human life through the seemingly opposite meanings of the two images combined: the rose represents beauty, love, friendship, and vitality, whereas the dagger signifies death, betrayal, destruction, and insidiousness. With great beauty comes great pain. Also a dagger through a rose may symbolise the willingness to go to the extent of killing something or someone you love in order to fight for your beliefs or protect your ideal.
