my opinion is,
it gotta be not easy - to nrly impossible to have a solid proof on this topic.

btw you can also then ask yourself
is life real? are WE real??

if you now say, I am, then go on,
bring me some evidence
and also the evidence of the existence of a soul and if you got that, then just tell me also then exactly, where the soul is to be found in the human body, is it the brain or the heart or maybe both?

cause I can bring you evidence for that you'll need both to exist

what I try to say is,
questions, which are not ready to be solved, cause of simply lacking evidence,
make you extremely worry, if you demand trying to solve them.

I don’t think it’s an illusion but it could be a metaphorical perception of our daily lives.
If you take on the Christian ideology, god has given us free will as a test some may say. But the Christian God also said that we have been created in his own image.
Does this not mean we are theoretically gods of our own? With our power of free will, the ability to anchor and control reality, we can create but also destroy, in the very same sense that a god can.
Isn’t this the true definition of free will? In a spiritual approach, we are gods by the definition of being able to control our realities, and only limited by human governed laws.
