Once you lay beneath a great lapping sea, fringed with teeming swamps and rain forest entwined with lush plantlife a genesis of birth when giant creatures roamed, swam and flew upon the Earth.
As I watch you now your endless towering dunes of sand, defy a history of cellulose, vacuole and chloroplast, that stretch far to the horizon and make a mocking mystery of a long and verdant past.
Of which there is no trace but fossils ensnared in rocks, where sentient swamp dwellers once thrived, compacted long ago, while fossil fuel pooled to feed climatic calamity ahead, in strata far below.
You, the vast silent desert, sea of shifting sand, as the wind blows lifting its dusty cargo, you steathily across good land creep, a scant supply of water to share amongst those wandering souls you keep.
