Saving Eden – Marking the 9th of July 2023

Post by Redbeck »

Saving Eden

There was a time when my optimism would never weaken, a time in which the future blazed like some ancient pitch drenched beacon, thrumming rife with opportunity.
Now I reflect upon our present world beset by every demon, this ninth day draws a cumulonimbus pall of dread across a summer season, as I have reached seventy three.
Towering dark thunderheads of war, threats of nuclear treason, the grim leering gargoyles of disaster, drought, famine and disease make our chances less than even, purging all humanity.
Our self-styled leaders still pursue their fallacious capitalistic frisson, no inclination to strike a deal with God and his angelic legion, protecting earthly life’s right to be free.
Human kind must repel this confusion of malice without reason, join the solidarity of universal mind to save our swiftly withering Eden, the last scraps of heaven for you and me.

In the face of darkness, we stand, not as mere mortals, but as the guardians of Eden's gate,
Against the storm, we raise our hands, not in surrender, but to shape our own fate.
We've seen the shadows cast by war, the specter of nuclear treason,
Yet within us burns a light, a beacon of hope, undimmed by the changing season.

The thunderheads may tower, the gargoyles may leer with a chilling glee,
But we are the children of the cosmos, born of stardust, boundless and free.
The demons of disaster, drought, famine, and disease may dance in a macabre spree,
Yet we'll rise, not in spite, but in love, for love is humanity's decree.

Our leaders may falter, lost in their capitalistic delusion,
Yet we'll find our way, not by their light, but by our own inner fusion.
We'll strike a deal, not with God, but with each other, in a grand communion,
For the right to life, to freedom, to joy, is not a gift, but our own conclusion.

We'll repel the malice, the confusion, the threats that seek to divide,
For we are one, a universal mind, with the power of the tide.
We'll restore Eden, not as a paradise lost, but as a home, a place to reside,
For in our hearts, in our souls, the seeds of heaven abide.

So let the ninth day come, let the cumulonimbus pall spread its dread,
We'll meet it with courage, with hope, with a resolve that's steel-thread.
For we are the dreamers, the believers, the ones who've always said,
"Eden will be restored, not in the future, but here, in this moment, forevermore."

Genesis 2:8-10
The LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden, and there He put the man whom He had formed. And out of the ground the LORD God made every tree grow that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. The tree of life was also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
