Re: The Power of the Mind
Hola Lannix, welcome back to the forum and as ever a number of sage observations on your part, presented on a pleasing bed of words. The expression food for thought is unerringly accurate in this instance.
Indeed the power of the mind has been acknowledged by a pageant of great thinkers down the passage of time. Old Aristotle, undoubtedly a bright light in the firmament, for example, had no doubt in his assessment:
The energy of the mind is the essence of life.
Albert Einstein no slouch in his reverence of intellectual capacity:
Physical concepts are free creations of the human mind, and are not, however it may seem, uniquely determined by the external world The ever witty Mark Twain with utterance, perhaps a trifle flippant, but nonetheless exceedingly uplifting at my time of life and therefore I am quite prepared to believe everything he says above the watermark:
Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter
An old warrior but whose politics were not always appealing to the down at heel, yet revered as a leader of huge importance in the darkest of times and the architect of Europe’s emergence from the grim abyss of war, as well as probably the most quoted Briton since William Shakespeare. Not that I have any love for the concept of empires for they do little but encourage class structures that weigh heavily on the already downtrodden:
The empires of the future are the empires of the mind
Not forgetting, the great Oliver Wendell Holmes American physician, poet, professor, lecturer, and author:
Man's mind once stretched by a new idea, never regains its original dimension.
And as resolute conclusion and perhaps the perfect a tagline for 973-eht-namuh-973 from the modernist philosopher and author Dr Wayne Walter Dyer:
What we think determines what happens to us, so if we want to change our lives, we need to stretch our minds.
