Out of the Shadows of Shame

Post by Selene »

It has been some time, I have been on here. I didn't realize how much I missed talking with wonderful enlightened people. Here is a recent musing of mine.

Out of the Shadows of Shame

Growing up, I was taught any deviation from "normal" society should be expunged. Rebuked religiously for fear of punishment; and not allowed to express my true self.
My true shadow self. The part of me I was told to be ashamed of and kept hidden out of necessity for personal safety. I am not normal. I will no longer allow man made principles to govern my self expression.
Living the Left Hand Path has given me the tools to contest these contrived principles and follow my own path. A path, not chosen for me or preached to me or forced onto me, but one of self deification. Self love. Self empowerment. Self realization.
Self deification does not force you to care for others because a text written by humans said do this or you will be punished with eternal damnation. I love my children, husband, friends and family because I actually love them and not out of fear of an unknown and unprovable afterlife.
Living the Left Hand Path has shown me, I don't need a book to want to expressly show my love to the people I care for in my life. I choose to care for them. I choose to care for equality. I choose to consciencely work to care for the environment. I choose to speak up when those have been treated unfairly or abused.
This is my true shadow self. I choose to live a virtuous life according to my own personal thoughts and beliefs.
